Up here in Michigan where I live, winters are long and cold.  So besides cross country skiing, snow shoeing and other outdoor activities, people ask me  “what do you do?”

Organized my junk drawer

I tend to get a spell of cabin fever that makes me start organizing my closets, and going through my stuff and getting rid of excess.  I can’t help myself…every year I do this and right after New Years the impetus kicks in to get going on organizing.  Given a harsh winter, my house gets cleaner and more organized.  I highly recommend it because in the end it feels really good.  I find that I have many things that I can take to Goodwill or our Women’s Resource Center.   I’ve not worn them recently or they don’t fit anymore, sadly!   I love discovering things I haven’t seen in awhile because they get buried in my closet.

Take this time to organize and scale back, you will feel good when you’re done.

I re-hang our art in different spots in different rooms and people think I’ve bought a new painting or two!  I change around the furniture and sometimes even re-paint a bedroom.  January is the time to GET IT DONE….not when it’s beautiful out and you don’t want to be inside.  So get busy.  By Spring you’ll feel ready to forget your house and get out and enjoy nature and the beauty of Spring.
