Changing Colors
Happy Fall! The colors are changing up here in the Midwest and we are all looking forward to the warm shades of orange, rust, gold and greens. These are not my decorating colors I prefer but I love how they go together and make our homes feel cozy and inviting as we welcome in the changing seasons.
Normally, I love the blues, all the different colors of the lakes that I incorporate into my decorating lacing them with grays, whites…I love this color palate because I can always add a pop of a bright color to make it more fun.
Tips on How to Choose a Color Palette
Choosing your paint colors starts with deciding how you want your room to feel.
Color emotes feeling. How you want to feel when you walk into your room?
Bedrooms usually ask for calming colors that make you feel like you can relax. Choosing red or orange might be what you like but I can assure you, that you will not fall asleep easily with bright primary colors! So, think about how you want your room to feel and start there…then go to the color itself.
Put together a color palette for several colors you love together and make sure you choose an either warm or cool palate.
Suggested Color Combinations
Just to get you started here are a couple combinations….tans, browns and pops of orange or blues and grays of different hues from dark blue to light blue combined with gray and white.
For a coastal look think about tan like the sand, blue like the water and white or throw in aqua, white and maybe a pop of a fun color like hot pink.
Think combinations of colors that complement each other…..and have fun playing with the colors until you find the perfect combination.
Have fun and good luck!
