Did you know that clutter increases stress hormones?
Decluttering is a term we hear a lot about these days. It’s a new buzz word for cleaning and organizing the spaces in our home. Research by the UCLA’s Center on Everyday living found that clutter can lead to feelings of stress or being overwhelmed.
So think about areas of your home that you can declutter and take a single space and get to work! If you’re going to clean off the top of your desk, don’t combine it with decluttering your filing cabinet at the same time.
Start in small spaces.
I’m a huge advocate of decluttering because it gives you an environment where we can be more present. In order to feel more calm and at ease, look for the balance of what your organized space and mind means to you I don’t start working at my desk until it’s in order and the surface is clean with desk items put in their place. I find it affects how I organize my thoughts and I can be more productive.
Try it and you’ll find that you will want to move forward to declutter more and more. It brings a great sense of calm and order to your home….you know where things are.
It is hard for some of us to let go of items that are sentimental to us but the more we let go, the more we can live in the present.
Think about it….it works! Happy decluttering!
